About Meets
Meets are typically held on Saturdays and run from 8am - 11:30am. Swimmers will need to be at the pool between 7am - 8am for their assigned warm up time. Typically, warm up is from 7am - 7:30 am for home meets, and 7:30am-8am for away meets.
Make sure to send with the swimmer:
- A swim suit.
- If wearing a cap it must be a Gators cap.
- Extra towels, swimmers will be getting in and out of the pool a number of times, towels get soaked very quickly.
- An extra pair of goggles, in case their first pair breaks.
- A water bottle. Swimmers need to stay hydrated throughout the meet and water is the best way to do this.
Make sure you bring:
- Money for heat sheets ($3) and concessions. Heat sheet will have your swimmer Event, Heat, and Lane details.
- A sharpie, to write on swimmers hand/arm and a pen, to use with the heat sheet.
- Healthy snacks and liquids.
- Plenty of sun screen.
- Any equipment you want to sit on or in at the meet such as a tent, chairs, blankets, etc.
- Gators, or orange and green, clothing to support the team!
At the meet have your swimmers listen for which events they are lining up. When their event has been called swimmers need to be staged with the other swimmers. They will then be escorted to the blocks for their events.
TIP: Write your swimmers event numbers on their arm so they know what event, heat, and lane they will be swimming in (E/H/L)
After their race swimmers are expected to stay in the water until all other swimmers in their heat are done, congratulate other swimmers on their race, and then talk to their coach.
