Mount Horeb Tri-County Gators
Registration opens April 1st!
A competitive summer swimming experience for Mount Horeb Residents ages 5-18. Swimmers receive instruction on stroke technique, race strategies, and are part of a fun team experience! The competition season includes seven dual swim meets within the Tri-County Conference, a number of fun Gator events, and an end of season award social. Practices and home meets are at the Mount Horeb Family Aquatic Center. Typically, our season starts the Tuesday after Memorial Day with the Conference Championships on the last full weekend in July. Swimmers must be able to swim at least 1 length of the pool (25 yards) of front crawl/freestyle without stopping or assistance.
Cost: $200 per swimmer and $25 per family concession fee
Practice Requirements
We expect swimmers to be ready to swim at the start of practice. Our coaching staff is there to coach all swimmers, not monitor swimmers who are unwilling to practice. If the swimmer chooses to leave the pool, they will be expected to sit quietly on the bench and not be distraction to other swimmers. If the swimmer is routinely chooses not to particpate in practice, the Head Coach will notify the parent. If needed, it will be escalted to the MoHo Gator Board for review.
Swimmers are recommended to participate in three Gators practices per week. We are flexible on practice expectaions as long as the head coach is informed. Please inform the head coach of any accommodations those dates that may be needed. Some common examples:
- The swimmer regularly practices with a USA swim club and would like to count it towards some of Moho Gator practices.
- The swimmer will miss practice due to summer school or a summer camp.

Team Awards
Each year we wrap up the season with a party and provide awards to recognize swimmers of all age levels to create a positive team culture.
- Most Improved Award: Recognizes the kids who put in the work to improve throughout the season. This is time, effort, skill and attitude based. One per gender, per age group (most often). Chosen by coaching staff.
- High Point Award: Given to one athlete per gender/per age group based on the highest point total earned in individual events in the dual meet season. No coach input.
- Peer-voted Model Gator: athletes vote for two age group members (one per gender) that they think best represent the Gator team and philosophy. No coach input.
- Iron Gator shirt: Recognizes the athletes who competed every dual meet. If the meet is canceled due to weather or has bad air quality the day of the meet, it is based on if the swimmer was committed. No coach input.
