Swim Buddy Program
One of the unique aspects of swimming on our summer swim team is the opportunity for young children and teenagers to be on the same team. The swim buddy program is a great way to foster team spirit and team bonding. In this program, a younger and/or less experienced swimmer is paired with an older and/or more experienced swimmer.
Participating in this program is optional.
Sign up here! Please only sign up if your swimmer is interested in being a swim buddy. We will do our best to match swimmers interested!
How to Participate
Fill out an “About Me” form on paper or via the Google Form by the first full day of practice in June
-
If you have multiple swimmers in a family that want to participate, a form must be completed for each swimmer.
-
Your swimmer will be assigned a buddy. Information about the buddy match will be in your family folder before the first swim meet.
-
Introduce yourself! If you do not recognize who you are matched with, talk to one of the coaches, and they can help!
Things to do for your Swim Buddy
Typically, swim buddies exchange cards, notes, snacks, or treats at meets. Make sure you read the information sheets about your buddies to see if they have food allergies. The program is NOT about expensive gifts. It is about being a supportive teammate and getting to know another teammate.
- Check to see what your buddy is swimming at the meet and cheer for them.
- Congratulate and encourage your swim buddy.
- Teach your buddy Gator traditions/cheers.
- If you are not attending a meet that your buddy will be at, you could leave an encouraging note in their family folder/mailbox at the pool.
- Talk to your swim buddy at non-meet events such as at the Frolic Parade, tie-dye event, pool party, pep rally, end of season awards, etc.
