Weather Guidelines
We are an outdoor swim team with a 10 week season. As such, we do our best to offer as much pool time as possible during this time while navigating Mother Nature and keeping everyone safe. We aim to notify you if practice is cancelled 30 minutes ahead of practice. As parent or guardian, you have the final say on if your swimmer attends practice or a meet. Our practices are not mandatory so if you feel the weather is too unpredictable to plan around, you can choose to skip the practice.
Thunderstorms
This means that we will swim in the rain as along as there is not thunder. If we hear thunder, we do exit the pool and only re-enter if there is no further thunder for 30 minutes.
Given that thunderstorms due track differently, the staff on the pool deck have the best information on how the weather is looking and make that call. It is best to keep an eye on your email if thunderstorms are in the forecast and have a plan for your swimmer if practice is cancelled.
Air Quality
For air quality, we use the warning system via https://airquality.wi.gov/home/map
If the warning is Moderate/Unhealthy for sensitive groups, it will be your choice as a parent on if your swimmer attends practice. However, if the air quality is Unhealthy or higher, we will cancel practice to limit exposure to your swimmers, coaches and lifeguards.
